The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first‑degree warnings for the eastern, southern and central provinces – Podlaskie, Masovian, Warmia‑Masurian, Lublin, Łódź, Świętokrzyskie, Podkarpackie, Lesser Poland and Silesia – because of a heavy frost outbreak.

Some alerts remain in force until the afternoon of Saturday, December 27.

Icy Conditions Expected Across Holiday Weekend

Freezing precipitation will make roads and sidewalks slick throughout the Christmas week, posing a real danger to drivers and pedestrians alike.

On Saturday, December 26, cloud cover is expected to be moderate in the east, with another cold night ahead. Maximum temperatures will range from –2 °C to 2 °C, with weak easterly and south‑easterly winds coming from the west in the north and east.

Soon after, the day will be mostly clear, turning cloudy only at the extreme northeast. Night temperatures will remain cold, with daytime highs between 0 °C and 4 °C; the north reaches –1 °C, while the southwestern border may hit 6 °C. Winds will be light and variable from the west in the north and east.

On Sunday, December 27, clouds will again be moderate, increasing to heavy in the afternoon. The north may see brief rain with snow or snow showers; the eastern borders could see snow. Night temperatures will be slightly warmer but still frosty in parts, with daytime highs kept between 0 °C and 4 °C. Winds will stay light to moderate, occasionally gusty in the north, and strong near the coast from the west and northwest.
