Police in Warsaw continue transport safety checks, detaining a man wanted internationally for fraud during operations that have issued dozens of fines.
Operation Details
Metropolitan police from Warsaw’s Prevention Police Department, Traffic Department and Intelligence Patrol Department continue control actions targeting drivers providing passenger transportation services. Officers daily check vehicles used for ordered transportation through mobile applications, ensuring passenger and road safety.
During operations, officials verify the technical condition of vehicles, required documents, driver entitlements, and the legality of performed transportation services. Vehicle markings, required licenses, and driver sobriety are also checked.
Control Results
During the operations, police have checked 480 vehicles and identified 485 people. They conducted 329 sobriety tests, imposed 59 fines totaling over 14,000 Polish złoty, performed 164 personal searches, and checked 248 pieces of luggage. Authorities also seized 3 registration certificates and 2 driver’s licenses.
During actions, officials detained 2 individuals, including a driver under the influence of alcohol and a person possessing narcotic substances. One serious incident occurred around 1:20 AM on Nowogrodzka Street when police stopped a Toyota vehicle used for app-ordered transportation.
International Arrest
The driver, a 40-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, was sober and not previously wanted in Poland. However, checks revealed he is subject to an Interpol Red Notice issued by Uzbek authorities for a fraud offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.
Ongoing Safety Measures
Police continue operations in high-traffic areas, near stations, airports, and central city points where transport services are frequently used. The controls aim to ensure passenger safety and eliminate non-compliant drivers from roads. Police announce these safety checks will continue in the coming days.
