A 27‑year‑old Ukrainian driver crashed a Mitsubishi into a roundabout island, fled the scene on foot, and later begged a patrol police officer in Sochaczew to blow into a breath‑alyzer.

Police in Sochaczew received a report last night that a Mitsubishi had struck the central island of a roundabout before the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police Intervention and Unusual Request

Dispatching officers to Żyrardowska Street, a 27‑year‑old Ukrainian citizen was apprehended. During their encounter he asked the officer to blow into a breath‑alyzer on his behalf.

Blood Alcohol Level and Legal Consequences

Testing revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.6 promille. He was detained, had his driver’s licence seized, underwent medical examinations at a hospital, and was later taken to police custody. He faces a charge of driving under the influence, punishable by up to three years in prison.
