Iran and Pakistan Submit Revised Proposal for US Agreement

Reuters reports that Iran and Pakistan have submitted a revised version of an agreement to the United States, as administration officials are recalled to Washington to discuss the potential deal.

The Path to a Potential Agreement

Reuters reported that the US is expected to present its response by Sunday. Previously, President Donald Trump stated in a CBS interview on Saturday, May 23, that the US and Iran are moving closer to an agreement.

Axios reporter Barak Ravid wrote on Saturday that Trump held discussions with Arab leaders, some of whom are urging the US president to accept the Iranian proposal. Additionally, Ravid indicated that Trump was scheduled to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later that day.

Internal Consultations and Optimism

Ravid added that Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth were recalled to Washington from Ohio and West Point, respectively, to discuss the potential deal intended to end the conflict.

Earlier on Saturday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, currently visiting India, noted that there is a possibility of positive news regarding the US-Iran agreement before the day’s end. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai also stated that there is a visible “trend toward convergence” in the negotiations.
