Iranian ballistic missiles detected heading for Israel with explosions reported across several Middle Eastern countries.
Israeli Military Reports Iranian Rocket Launch
The Israeli military reported on Saturday, February 28, that it had detected ballistic missiles fired from Iran toward Israel. The Air Force began operations to intercept incoming missiles and neutralize threats. The command noted that the air defense system is not fully secure and called on residents to follow safety instructions.
Soon after, the army reported another volley of missiles fired toward Israel. “Air raid sirens wailed in some areas of Israel,” the Israeli Defense Forces reported. Explosions were heard in the northern part of the country. So far, there is no information about casualties or damage.
Iranian Rocket Attack After Israeli-American Strike
The rocket attack came after morning airstrikes by Israel and the United States targeting sites in Iran. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the operation was “preventive.” Later, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the commencement of “a large U.S. military operation in Iran.”
According to information provided, Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was evacuated from Tehran. Earlier, an Iranian official told Reuters that Iran was preparing to retaliate for Saturday’s attack, adding that it would be “crushing.”
Rockets Over UAE and Reports on U.S. Bases
At 11 AM, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense announced the “successful interception of several Iranian missiles.” At the same time, it was confirmed that missile debris fell on a residential district in Abu Dhabi, “causing material damage and the death of an Asian citizen.”
The UAE state news agency reported that several missiles fired by Iran were intercepted. Meanwhile, Iran’s Fars agency reports that the targets of Iran’s rocket attacks were intended to be four American bases in the region: Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain.
