Iran Strikes Israel with Cluster Munitions, Israel Retaliates

Iran launched a missile attack on Israel, including cluster munitions targeting Tel Aviv, prompting Israeli and U.S. counterstrikes on Iranian facilities.

Iranian Attack on Israel

Israeli rescue services reported damage caused by cluster munitions following Iran’s recent rocket attack. Impacts were reported in Ramat Gan, Givatayim, and Bene Berek.

Two cluster missiles struck near IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv, damaging a parking lot. Six people were lightly injured in Saturday’s attacks, according to the Times of Israel.

Escalation and Counterattacks

Israel repeatedly reported detecting Iranian aerial objects approaching the country. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have attacked an Israel-linked ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel continues to attack targets within Iran, with the United States joining in the strikes.

Attack on Nuclear Facility

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that a missile struck near the Bushehr nuclear power plant, killing a security guard and damaging a building with debris and a shockwave.

The IAEA stated there was no increase in radiation levels, and main facilities remained intact with production unaffected.

Targets in Iran’s Petrochemical Sector

Attacks also targeted petrochemical plants in Bandar-e Mahshahr and Bandar-e Imam. Iranian news agency Fars reported the targets were facilities in a special economic zone specializing in oil and derivative exports.

Further Iranian Targets and Regional Impact

The Tehran Times reported a strike on a Ministry of Agriculture facility in Mehran, western Iran, near the border with Iraq. Following retaliatory strikes in Iran that killed an Iraqi citizen and injured five others, Baghdad closed the Shalamche border crossing with Iran.

Ten people were injured in the attacks.

Continued Hostilities in Lebanon

Iran continues to shell Lebanon, prompting another evacuation order for residents of Tyre, where Israel claims Hezbollah fighters are located. Israel has recently destroyed bridges leading to the city, isolating it. Ten people were injured in Saturday’s attacks.

AFP reports damage to a hospital and surrounding buildings, as well as strikes on the port.
