Israeli forces struck a Yemeni power plant early Sunday, according to Houthi‑controlled TV, while Israel confirmed the hit on “terrorist infrastructure”.
Attack on the Yemen Power Plant
Yemen’s Houthi‑controlled TV Al‑Masirah reported on Sunday that Israeli fighters carried out two dawn raids on the Haziz power plant, located south of the capital Sana’a. Miszal Al‑Rifi, the CEO of the Electric Corporation, said a massive fire broke out. “Haziz Power Plant, a key facility supplying electricity to the southern districts of Sana’a, has been repeatedly attacked,” Al‑Masirah added. Footage of the explosion appeared online.
Israel: We struck Houthi terrorist infrastructure
Before 8 a.m. Polish time, Israeli forces announced that they had carried out an attack targeting “Houthi terrorist infrastructure”. The attack was a response to repeated missile and drone assaults by the Houthi on Israel. The Houthis, directed and financed by Iran, threaten Israel and global trade by using maritime routes.
Israel vs Houthi
This is another Israeli attack in recent weeks. Last month the target of Israeli forces was Houthi facilities at Al‑Hudaydah port. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said attacks aim to prevent the rebuilding of previously attacked “terrorist infrastructure”. The Israeli army claimed that units, cars and fuel tanks were targeted. Following the Gaza war, Iran‑backed Houthis began attacking Red Sea ships, claiming support for Palestinians, and also launched missile strikes on Israeli territory.
