After the European Broadcasting Union sanctioned Israel’s entry into Eurovision 2026, protests erupted worldwide, and a Polish petition demands the national broadcaster withdraw Poland from the event.
EBU Grants Israel Participation
The European Broadcasting Union has permitted Israel to compete in Eurovision 2026. This decision has triggered controversy due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and allegations of genocide. Several participating countries, including the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, and Slovenia, have already withdrawn in protest.
Polish Broadcaster to Release Statement
TVP announced it will issue a statement on the matter, with CEO Kamil Kozbuch saying the organization is monitoring the EBU’s proceedings and will likely publish a statement by Monday. The broadcaster will refrain from commenting until then.
Petition Urges Poland’s Withdrawal
A citizen petition circulating online requests that TVP cancel Poland’s participation in Eurovision. The petition argues that Israel’s inclusion turns the contest into a political tool and that the Israeli government openly promotes the competition as a means of state promotion.
