Israel Under Attack From Two Fronts; Dozens Wounded

Israel faced simultaneous attacks from Hezbollah in the north and Iran in the south, resulting in dozens of injuries and raising regional tensions.

Israel Shelled From Two Sides

Israeli rescue services reported at least five people were injured during shelling in Ma’alot-Tarshiha, in northern Israel. The Times of Israel reports Hezbollah is responsible for the attack.

Southern Israel Targeted by Iranian Missile

Israeli media also report attacks on the southern part of Israel. Following an Iranian ballistic missile attack on the southern city of Dimona, 47 people were transported to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, according to Israeli medics and The Times of Israel correspondent.

Dimona Nuclear Research Center Targeted

The Negev desert, 13 km from the city of Dimona, is home to the Shimon Peres Nuclear Research Center, commonly known as the Dimona Reactor, which is considered an element of Israel’s nuclear weapons program. Israel does not officially confirm or deny possessing such weapons.

Iran Claims Retaliatory Strike

Iran stated that Dimona was targeted in retaliation for the attack on the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility. The Israeli military has not taken responsibility for the Natanz attack, according to the AP news agency.

Further Iranian Attack on Eilat

The Israeli army also reported another Iranian missile attack aimed at the Eilat region in the south of the country.

Potential Flashpoint in the Persian Gulf

A small coral island, Khark, in the northern part of the Persian Gulf, could become the main battlefield in a war with Iran, as it is the origin point for tankers carrying Iranian oil, a key source of funding for the Tehran government.
