Jacek Kurski Blasts Donald Tusk Over Ziobro

Polish MP Jacek Kurski verbally attacked Donald Tusk on the TV program “Republika” on November 7, claiming Tusk is orchestrating the opposition justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro’s prosecution.

Kurski Blasts Tusk Over Ziobro

During a November 7 appearance on the television show “Republika,” former head of Polish Television Jacek Kurski condemned Donald Tusk, labeling him a “louse” and accusing the former prime minister of manipulating the justice system to target opposition minister Zbigniew Ziobro. Kurski cited Tusk’s recent comments about “either in prison or in Budapest” and urged citizens to support Ziobro as a victim of a sadistic mafia‑like regime.

Tusk Responds to Kurski’s Allegations

Following the criticism, Tusk addressed the parliament. He rejected the notion that executive officials could arrest or detain Ziobro, stating that only the prosecutor’s office can decide on such matters. Tusk emphasized that the Hungarian prime minister’s actions risk heightening tensions between Poland and Hungary, and that the judiciary remains fully independent.

Ziobro Loses Parliamentary Immunity

On the same day, members of the Sejm voted to strip Zbigniew Ziobro of his parliamentary immunity for 26 charges the prosecutor’s office plans to bring against him. The lawmakers also approved his possible arrest and detention.

Legal Proceedings Against Ziobro

The prosecutor’s office alleges that Ziobro abused his position from 2017 to 2023, misusing funds from the Justice Fund, manipulating competitions, allowing unqualified persons to sign contracts, and concealing documents. A decision was issued to present the charges to Ziobro and to force him to appear before the National Prosecutor’s Office for processing the case.
