Jarosław Kaczyński Concludes Nine-Hour Testimony in “Two Towers” Case

PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński finished a nearly nine-hour testimony as a witness at the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday regarding the investigation into the aborted “Two Towers” development project.

Investigation into the Srebrna project

The investigation into the “two towers” case was initiated by the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office in February 2025 and is currently led by Deputy District Prosecutor Ewa Szeroczyńska. The case concerns plans to construct two skyscrapers on a plot in Warsaw owned by Srebrna, a company linked to the Law and Justice (PiS) party.

The probe focuses on allegations of misleading Austrian businessman Gerald Birgfellner, which reportedly led to the disadvantageous disposition of assets of significant value.

Testimony proceedings and atmosphere

Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba reported that the session, which lasted from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., took place in a “good atmosphere.” Although the prosecutor noted minor tensions comparable to a courtroom drama, he emphasized that the questioning remained highly disciplined throughout the day.

The resulting transcript of the testimony spans 40 pages. Prosecutor Skiba confirmed that Kaczyński answered all questions posed to him and did not invoke his right to refuse testimony to avoid criminal liability.

Procedural motions and future steps

At the start of the hearing, the witness and his legal representatives filed a motion to exclude the victim’s attorney, Roman Giertych, from participating in the session. The presiding prosecutor denied this request.

Following the conclusion of the testimony, the prosecutor indicated that no further procedural actions are currently planned within this specific investigation.
