Job Disputes After Labor Decisions, Courts to Resolve Cases Faster

Poland’s labor courts face increased caseloads as new measures aim to speed up decisions on employment disputes.

Courts Overwhelmed by New Labor Disputes

Additional judicial positions and procedural solutions are being introduced to speed up appeals against labor inspectors’ decisions establishing employment relationships. This initiative addresses concerns from employer organizations that new cases could get stuck in courts for years.

Legal Amendment Redistributes Cases

A proposed amendment to the State Labor Inspectorate Act would assign regional courts to handle appeals from district labor inspectors who establish employment relationships. This change is expected to result in at least 1,861 new cases annually, necessitating increased judicial staffing.

Experts Question Implementation Feasibility

Despite ambitious plans to accelerate case resolution, experts caution that the real workload of court departments and the structure of the process may make these goals difficult to achieve.
