On Saturday, 11 October before midnight in Rejowiec, Lublin Voivodeship, Judge Jakub Iwaniec collided with a tree and drove to a nearby house before witnesses reported the incident to the police.

Police Findings

The prosecutor in Krasnystaw confirmed a traffic collision; the suspect, Jakub I, had 0.96 mg/l of alcohol in breath and blood was taken for further analysis.

Legal Process

The case will be handled by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość and sent to the National Prosecutor’s Office Internal Affairs Department to initiate the removal of the judge’s immunity.

Judge’s Hate‑Affair Connection

Judge Iwaniec was a member of the closed “Kasta” group, which circulated plans to defame judges opposed to the judiciary reform during the United Right government, with involvement of Ministry of Justice officials such as Deputy Minister Łukasz Piebiak.
