Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek dismissed rumors of an illegal pursuit of former minister Zbigniew Ziobro, clarifying that any action will follow legal procedure.
Żurek Denies Illegal Chase
On Polsat News, Minister Waldemar Żurek explained that while there have been worldwide instances of people being “caught” without proper documents, Polish authorities strictly adhere to the law and that rumors of Ziobro being taken into a trunk are false.
He said that the services and “shadow hunters” across the world pursue suspects through Interpol red notices and arrest warrants, but that this situation will respect legal procedure.
Żurek stressed that security wants everything to happen “lege artis” and that the case has become a political affair, yet the ministry is pursuing those suspected of serious economic scandals.
Legal Framework and Interpol Notices
Żurek noted that Polish authorities employ Interpol red notices and warrants to collect evidence and prosecute suspects, and that these tools will be used without violating procedural rules during the Ziobro investigation.
The ministry is committed to carrying out all actions in full compliance with the law.
Prosecutor’s Alleged Animal Metaphor
Prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek compared Ziobro to a “mustela” and added an image, labeling him a “shy European mustela.” Żurek said he considers such language unacceptable and will discuss the matter with Wrzosek.
Ziobro Responds to Accusations
Currently in Budapest, Ziobro dismissed the charges as a retaliation by Donald Tusk, asserting he respects the law but not the powers that break it.
He said he will not return because he faces a mafia that he must confront, and that legal repercussions for others will be pursued while the crime is dealt with in normal legal conditions.
