Following a seven-hour meeting, Jarosław Kaczyński announced a compromise allowing Mateusz Morawiecki’s association to function within the PiS party structure.
Kaczyński-Morawiecki Talks and the “Rozwój Plus” Association
Jarosław Kaczyński met with Mateusz Morawiecki, along with Adam Bielan, to address the ongoing division within PiS stemming from the establishment of the “Rozwój Plus” association, led by Morawiecki.
PiS officials had previously stated that involvement in the association would preclude party membership and jeopardize positions on electoral lists; however, Kaczyński announced the association’s activities would continue “within the party.”
“Two Lungs” for PiS
Kaczyński stated the arrangement would give PiS “two lungs,” positioning the party to appeal to both those supporting confederalist formations and those seeking effective governance.
He described the nomination of Przemysław Czarnek as a “proper response” to engaging with the far-right electorate.
Appealing to Different Voter Bases
Kaczyński emphasized the need to reach voters who prioritize effective governance and stability, highlighting Morawiecki’s track record during his premiership.
Morawiecki’s Vision: A “Patriotic Umbrella”
Mateusz Morawiecki called for the entire right-wing camp to unite in opposition to the current government, describing it as a “government of lawlessness, lack of ambition, and collapse of the NFZ [National Health Fund].”
He envisioned PiS acting as an “oasis of hope in a desert of very bad governance,” aiming to attract a broad range of voters, including those uninterested in constant political debate and entrepreneurs.
Addressing Perceived Failures in Communication
Kaczyński acknowledged that public awareness of PiS’s achievements is limited due to a “gigantic wave of attacks,” and stressed the need to overcome this through diverse outreach strategies.
