Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki met with Adam Bielan to discuss the future of Morawiecki’s “Rozwój Plus” association and its impact on the PiS party.
Morawiecki-Kaczyński Meeting Follows Association Launch
The meeting between Mateusz Morawiecki and Jarosław Kaczyński stems from the former prime minister’s decision to establish the “Rozwój Plus” association. Dozens of PiS parliamentarians have reportedly signed up to join.
While members of the group maintain they do not intend to leave the party, concerns have arisen about a potential split within PiS. Morawiecki denied any such rift when questioned by reporters.
Kaczyński Warns of Consequences for Association Members
Jarosław Kaczyński previously announced that politicians involved in the “Rozwój Plus” association would be removed from PiS electoral lists in upcoming elections, citing a violation of the party’s statutes. He also hinted at “other consequences” for members.
Morawiecki countered that the association’s activities are fully compliant with PiS’s statutes, pointing to previous encouragement from Kaczyński and others to form associations. He questioned the disparity in treatment, noting the existence of a similar association linked to “Suwerenna Polska.”
Agreement Reached on Association’s Future
According to Onet, an agreement was reached during the meeting: Kaczyński will allow the “Rozwój Plus” association to continue operating with PiS parliamentarians as members. In exchange, the group will join a newly formed expert advisory council within PiS.
PiS Officials Confirm Agreement and Seek Unity
Piotr Müller stated that the association will continue to function, serving to broaden support for PiS rather than create internal competition. He expressed optimism about the agreement.
Krzysztof Szczucki described the meeting as “very good and positively oriented,” attributing previous tensions to misinformation presented to Kaczyński. He emphasized the desire for unity within the party and suggested his own suspension would signal a resolution to the issue.
Concerns Over Misleading Kaczyński
Szczucki asserted that the unrest surrounding the “Rozwój Plus” association arose from “misleading” Kaczyński, with attempts to create conflict between him and Morawiecki’s camp. He reiterated that no one intends to leave the party or disrupt its unity.
