Jarosław Kaczyński submitted party requests over PiS members’ posts violating bans on harmful social media discourse.
Party Actions
Jarosław Kaczyński referred PiS members to the party commission for violating leadership bans on social media discussions “harmful to Poland and the political environment.” The case of Patryk Jaki remains under analysis by PiS. Rafał Bochenek stated on February 27 that the statements of other party members, including Jaki, are being reviewed due to complex contexts. The ethics commission previously handled Jacek Kurski’s case over a televised remark.
Jaki’s Lubelin Remarks
During a February 26 student meeting in Lubelin, PiS vice president Patryk Jaki discussed the EU’s SAFE defense support program. When questioned about ensuring Poland isn’t burdened with debt or EU dependency after a potential PiS return to power, Jaki asserted that most party politicians had learned from past mistakes. He stated, “This time we are behaving as firmly as necessary,” emphasizing SAFE demonstrated the party’s current stance.
Morawiecki’s Response
Mateusz Morawiecki criticized Jaki on X, questioning the outcome of Jaki’s judicial reform and IPN law, and accusing him of criticizing easily from a “reviewers’ booth.” Morawiecki countered that all key EU decisions were approved by PiS leadership and taking responsibility involves the risk of error, unlike merely offering criticism.
Party Reactions
MP Mirosława Stachowiak-Różecka shared Morawiecki’s post, stressing teamwork and loyalty in politics. She questioned why former Sovereign Poland members were admitted if not to collaborate, rather than undermine past government achievements. MP Ireneusz Zyska also responded, acknowledging Jaki’s courage but stating it’s insufficient for statesmanship. He suggested Jaki should emulate Morawiecki’s class.
