Kaczyński Refers Patryk Jaki’s Case to PiS Ethics Committee Amid Public Party Dispute

Jarosław Kaczyński directed Patryk Jaki’s case to the PiS ethics committee following a public dispute within the party.

Decision After Analysis

The decision followed an analysis of gathered materials. According to PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek on February 28, Patryk Jaki was added to the list of politicians whose cases will be handled by the ethics committee. This resulted from an online exchange of words among party members.

Dispute Following Jaki’s Lublin Appearance

The conflict began on February 26 when Patryk Jaki, a former Sovereign Poland member, posted a video from a student meeting in Lublinie. He was asked about guarantees for voters that PiS would not take further SAFE-type loans or increase dependence on the EU if re-elected. Jaki criticized some PiS MPs, stating he was “proud of the entire party” for resisting blackmail and aspiring for a “true PiS”.

Morawiecki’s Response

Mateusz Morawiecki reacted, accusing Jaki and others of primarily criticizing PiS’s 2015–2023 government record – one they participated in. He argued such criticism hurts support and challenged Jaki to explain his judicial reform and IPN law’s impact on Poland.

Further Party Reactions

Ireneusz Zyska questioned Jaki’s statecraft, suggesting he emulate Morawiecki. Mirosława Stachowiak-Różecka emphasized teamwork and loyalty, urging against discrediting years of government work. She noted past differences with Sovereign Poland did not hinder coalition governance.

PiS Ethics Committee Context

On February 27, Bochenek announced Kaczyński referred Morawiecki, Zyska, and Stachowiak-Różecka to the ethics committee. Jaki was added subsequently. Since November 2025, public factional disputes in PiS have occurred, including a notable clash between Ryszard Terlecki and Sebastian Kaleta. Kaczyński warned such discussions harm Poland and PiS, threatening suspension for participants. Jacka Kurski’s case was also referred earlier over a TV comment.
