Kaczyński reportedly planned to suspend Kurski over Morawiecki criticism, averted at the last minute.
Kurski in Serious Trouble
Interia reports Jacek Kurski faced “serious trouble” due to his criticism of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on wPolska24. Kurski was at risk of suspension from the party for attacking other members.
An insider stated Kurski called Nowogrodzka Street repeatedly until the last minute to persuade the president, saving himself “by a hair’s breadth from suspension.”
Morawiecki Criticism
Kurski criticized Morawiecki for accepting conditions tied to Poland’s KPO funds, which later led to their blockage. Speaking on the SAFE program, Kurski said: “We allowed the government leader to be made a fool of once.”
He added: “We need to learn from mistakes” regarding the lack of political mandate for agreeing to the funds’ conditions.
Kaczyński’s Intervention
Morawiecki’s supporters in PiS demanded Kurski’s suspension. Plans to announce it at a Monday press conference were scrapped.
Kurski convinced Kaczyński that suspending him would strengthen Morawiecki, whom Kaczyński believes seeks to take control of the party. “Kura” has long warned Kaczyński about Morawiecki’s ambitions, which reportedly resonated.
Party Warning
President Kaczyński warned: “Anyone continuing harmful discussions will be suspended from the party.” He stated sanctions would apply regardless of position or past contributions.
Kaczyński emphasized: “Such extreme behavior will severely harm Poland and PiS,” noting suspensions would impact political futures.
