Kaczyński Suspends Two MPs Over CPK Land Sale

Polish President Jarosław Kaczyński has suspended MPs Robert Telus and Rafał Romanowski over the sale of land used for the Central Communication Port project, pending investigation.

Kaczyński Suspends MPs

By decision of President Jarosław Kaczyński, MPs Robert Telus and Rafał Romanowski have been suspended from PiS membership rights until the sale of land belonging to the National Agricultural Support Centre (KOWR) is clarified, according to PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek.

Bochenek stressed that the case must be resolved unequivocally and expressed surprise that KOWR, under its current leadership, has not attempted to recover the property in accordance with existing regulations. He suggested this may be related to the buyer’s family being a major sponsor of the Platform Party and Cohesion Coalition’s initiatives.

Telus Labels Investigation as Attack Over Mercosur Opposition

MP Robert Telus called the reports about the land sale an “attack” and linked the matter to his firm stance against the Mercosur agreement.

Telus stated he accepted the President’s decision to suspend him with understanding, emphasising that he was unaware of the transaction and that the issue would be clarified promptly and thoroughly. He reaffirmed his opposition to the sale of state land and asserted that state treasury resources are a strategic reserve Poland cannot abandon.

Key CPK Land Sold Before PiS Takeover

Wirtualna Polska reported that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development approved the sale of 160 hectares of land to Dawtona’s vice‑president just before PiS assumed office in 2023. At that time, Robert Telus was the agriculture minister.

The land, previously owned by KOWR, is central to the Central Communication Port project and was sold for 22.8 million zloty. The outlet estimates that the land’s value could rise several times over, potentially reaching 400 million zloty.

The article noted that the Wielgomąs family, which owns Dawtona, had supported the new administration after the leadership change, including a 130 thousand‑zloty donation to a campaign fund for Rafał Trzaskowski.

Lasek: Prosecutor Launches Investigation

Deputy Infrastructure Minister Maciej Lasek said that since last year, efforts were made to recover the sold land through negotiations. In winter, gathered materials were sent to an external firm to assess whether they could trigger a criminal complaint, leading the prosecutor’s office to open a case.
