Kadłub Murder Case: Prosecution Confirms 17-Year-Old to Face Criminal Trial

After a teenager livestreamed the murder of two family members in Kadłub last February, court-appointed experts have officially deemed him fully accountable, clearing the way for his criminal prosecution.

The Crime and Investigation

The crime occurred between the night of February 25 and 26, 2026, in Kadłub, Opole Voivodeship. Around 4:00 AM, officers from the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime were alerted to graphic footage uploaded to a social media platform. The “Nowa Trybuna Opolska” news outlet reported that the teenager set up a camera in a room before attacking two sleeping individuals. Police identified the author and the location shortly thereafter.

Officers arrived at a residence housing four people: a married couple, the wife’s mother, and the 17-year-old. They discovered the bodies of an 87-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man. By 1:00 PM, police arrested the suspect, who was hiding in brush near a river in Krapkowice County. The wife of the murdered man was at a hospital for a procedure at the time of the tragedy.

Psychiatric Evaluation Findings

The prosecutor charged the 17-year-old with double murder committed with particular cruelty, an offense punishable by 15 to 30 years in prison. While the suspect confessed, investigators appointed a team of two psychiatrists and a psychologist to determine his mental state, as a finding of insanity would exempt him from criminal liability.

On June 9, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Strzelce Opolskie announced that experts concluded Łukasz G. was fully capable of recognizing the significance of his actions and controlling his conduct at the time of the crime. Spokesman for the Opole Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Stanisław Bar, noted that while the suspect suffers from developmental and personality disorders, he will stand trial in criminal court.
