A woman who stalked the mayor of Kalisz, Poland, sending unwanted messages and posting about a fabricated relationship, received a four-month community service sentence.
Stalker Receives Sentence
A court sentenced the stalker to four months of community service for the city and a three-year restraining order, prohibiting her from approaching the mayor of Kalisz within 50 meters.
Unwanted Communications and Online Harassment
From June 2023 to February 2025, the 47-year-old woman repeatedly sent messages to the mayor via online messaging apps and published posts about his private life on her Facebook profile.
Prosecutors stated that her actions “aroused a justified sense of threat, humiliation, and distress, and significantly violated the privacy of the victim.”
“Love” and “Devotion” Claimed
The mayor initially received hundreds of messages professing the woman’s love, devotion, and attachment. After he requested she stop contacting him and blocked her, she began posting on Facebook claiming they were in a relationship and shared fabricated details of alleged meetings.
Mayor Describes Stressful Situation
“I have a family, loved ones, and I am a public figure. People started asking questions, and the situation became stressful,” said Mayor Krystian Kinastowski. “In some posts, the woman began to be aggressive and threaten me. I didn’t know what to do, so I decided to file a report with the prosecutor’s office, which initiated the case.”
Psychiatric Therapy Ordered, Apology Received
Following expert evaluations, the court ordered the woman to undergo outpatient psychiatric therapy. The mayor stated that she apologized to him in court.
Soldier Arrested on Espionage Charges
