Polish President Karol Nawrocki is expected to participate in this year’s Independence March in Warsaw on November 11, but organizers have not confirmed his presence.
Organizers Discuss President’s Attendance
The Independence March association revealed this year’s programme and noted that the event will start at Dmowskiego roundabout on November 11 in the early afternoon. When asked whether the president would join, Bartosz Malewski, the association’s president, said it would not surprise them if he decided to appear. He recalled that Nawrocki had taken part in the march when he served as president of the Institute of National Remembrance.
Schedule for the 2024 Independence March
The gathering will begin at 13:00 with a prayer at the Dmowskiego roundabout. At 14:00 the crowd will sing the national anthem together before the march moves toward the PGE Narodowy stadium via Poniatowskiego Bridge. Concerts and performances are planned for 16:00 on the stadium lawns. Marking the 1,000th anniversary of the Polish state’s coronation, a parade of Polish armaments will also take place. The march aims to highlight the “importance of one nation,” Malewski said, and various professional groups—farmers, hunters, and women’s association members—will attend.
Nawrocki’s Kyiv Visit
On Monday, October 27, Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Office at the President’s Office, referenced arrangements for Nawrocki’s upcoming Kyiv trip. According to reports from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nawrocki intends to meet Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, despite clear Ukrainian signals. Przydacz told TVN24 that if Zelensky wishes to see Nawrocki, nothing stands in the way of him traveling to Warsaw for a meeting.
