Ukrainian authorities arrested a Belarusian KGB agent who infiltrated the military by seducing a Ukrainian commander.
KGB Agent in Ukraine
The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense reported on January 27 about the arrest of 35-year-old spy Ina Kardash. She had worked for Belarusian KGB since 2015 and was sent to Ukraine in 2020 under the cover of a journalist at a leading Ukrainian media outlet.
Her true mission was to infiltrate a unit of Ukrainian military intelligence.
She Seduced the Commander
The woman traveled to an EU country under the pretext of medical examinations, where her KGB handler assigned her to gather information about Belarusian and Russian fighters supporting Ukraine. She was also instructed to contact staff at the Chinese embassy in Kyiv.
According to Ukraine’s “Television Information Service” (TSN), the agent was tasked with recruiting a Ukrainian combat unit commander through sexual seduction. In communications with her handler, she referred to him as “my fool.”
Ukrainian Services Arrested the Agent
Ukrainian security services conducted a months-long special operation, documenting the spy’s activities while feeding her disinformation under the guise of secret intelligence.
After collecting sufficient evidence, authorities arrested the agent in Kyiv and confiscated her smartphone and dictaphone, which she used to gather classified information. She now faces 15 years in prison and confiscation of her assets.
