Kidnapped in Olkusz, Found by Chance in Pruszków: Motives Revealed

A 42‑year‑old man kidnapped in Olkusz on 31 October was unexpectedly recovered in Pruszków on 2 November, police confirm, while detectives outline that the abduction was ordered by a girlfriend over a conflict.

Accidental Discovery in Pruszków

The 42‑year‑old victim of the kidnapping was found in Pruszków on Sunday, 2 November around noon. Police said his discovery was accidental, as officers only arrested him for a minor offence.

TVN24 reports the unofficial motive was an alcohol‑theft scheme. Authorities are investigating why the victim did not report himself to the station despite being searched for. The Olkusz Prosecutor’s Office is pursuing a case to clarify all circumstances, including an alleged involvement of a close woman in planning the kidnapping.

Kidnapping Witnessed in Plain Sight

On Friday, 31 October, the kidnapping unfolded in central Olkusz. A witness filmed two men pulling a 42‑year‑old along a sidewalk into a car, after which the vehicle abruptly departed. The footage reached police, enabling a swift arrest of the suspects.

The car was later located in Silesia. Lower Silesian police say the kidnapping was pre‑planned and commissioned by the victim’s partner. Later that day surveillance cameras in Czechowice‑Dziedzice recorded the victim – he was already free then.

Arrests and Initial Findings

On Saturday, police detained two men suspected of the kidnapping—one arrested at his workplace, the other at his apartment. Both faced unlawful imprisonment charges. They also detained a woman who allegedly ordered the crime but released her after questioning.

According to a spokesperson for the Krakow District Prosecutor’s Office, the kidnappers’ motive was a conflict between the woman and her partner, who lived together in Olkusz. The man was to be held for several hours.
