On Sunday 21 December, police received a report that Pavel R., a 36‑year‑old Ukrainian citizen, had taken a nine‑year‑old boy from his residence in Warsaw‑Praga North and fled in an unknown direction. After several hours of negotiations, authorities located the couple; the boy was hospitalized with life‑threatening injuries, while R. was detained.
Charges Filed by Prosecutor’s Office
The Warsaw‑Praga district prosecutor’s office has formally charged Pavel R. with attempted murder of a minor, kidnapping, holding the child hostage with special anguish, causing life‑threatening injuries, making criminal threats, inflicting minor bodily harm on another person, coercing another individual to act, and property damage. He may face life imprisonment for these crimes.
