Kidnapping in Lublin: 18‑Year‑Old Survived Nightmare, Police Reveal Motivations

An 18‑year‑old survived a kidnapping in Lublin on 7 October, police said, after a 30‑year‑old and his 20‑year‑old partner coerced him into a neighbor’s flat and threatened him amid an ongoing investigation.

Pair Tried to Coerce Change of Testimony

The City Police Command in Lublin announced on Tuesday, 7 October, that a few days earlier an incident had taken place in the LSM (Lubelska Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa) district. A 30‑year‑old man and his 20‑year‑old partner attempted to incapacitate and lock an 18‑year‑old acquaintance inside the partner’s apartment. Deputy Inspector Kamil Gołębiowski said they wanted to force him to change his testimony in the ongoing proceeding.

Dramatic Scenes in the Apartment

The victim was reportedly beaten all over his body, resulting in injuries. He also received threats concerning himself and his family. Additionally, the attackers demanded money to repay a debt owed by one of them.

Consequences for Suspects

The attackers were arrested by the criminal unit of the 4th precinct and later brought before the prosecutor. They will face charges of coercive robbery, exerting influence in a proceeding, deprivation of liberty and bodily harm. The prosecutor requested preventive measures: temporary arrest for three months for the 30‑year‑old and two months for the 20‑year‑old. The court approved these measures on Monday. The pair faces up to ten years in prison for the alleged acts.
