Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński declared that the Konfederacja Korony Polskiej, led by Grzegorz Braun, is “on the brink of deregulation” after a TVN24 interview.
Minister Calls Party on Deregulation Brink
In the TVN24 program “Rozmowa Piaseckiego,” Marcin Kierwiński was asked whether the Konfederacja Korony Polskiej should be deregistered. He answered, “They are on the brink of deregulation. I think that a few more scandals involving Mr. Braun, his people’s proposals to support Putin, and then that line will be crossed. Then, yes, the party should be deregistered.” The appeal is urged by the group Akcja Demokracja.
Konfederacja Responds with Mockery
After the minister’s remarks, the Konfederacja’s vice‑president Roman Fritz was contacted. In an SMS he wrote, “Mr Kierwiński is on the border of absurdity.” He added, “What to comment on?”
Commentary on Legal Path Forward
Fritz also spoke with Piotr Szlachtowicz, who explained that while the idea may seem funny, the legal process to deregister the party is very lengthy and remote. A court‑substantive request to the Constitutional Tribunal is required, a difficult step to achieve. He said the approach is being prepared as propaganda to accustom the public that sooner or later it will occur.
Braun Replies on X
Grzegorz Braun issued a terse reply on X, stating that “the fire‑extinguisher front will win.” He noted that he uses a fire‑extinguisher symbol as his trademark after a scandalous incident in Parliament when he extinguished Chanukah candles with it.
