Kierwiński Fires at PiS, Confederation—‘Smiles Will Soon Disappear’

Polish MP Marcin Kierwiński took to X on December 6, ridiculing PiS and Confederation politicians over a crypto‑law vote, claiming their smiles will fade soon.

Marcin Kierwiński on PiS and Confederation

Polish MP Marcin Kierwiński posted on X on December 6, mocking PiS and Confederation politicians after they played a “team game” with crypto‑fraudsters. He said the mood of those lawmakers seems wonderful, betting that soon the smiles will vanish from their mouths and only shame will remain. He was referring to the Sejm’s vote to reject Karol Nawrocki’s veto on the crypto‑asset market law.

Parliament Vote Outcome

The Sejm rejected Karol Nawrocki’s veto with 192 votes in favour from the Civic Coalition, Polish 2050, PSL, the Left and Together, and 243 votes against from PiS and Confederation. A total of 435 MPs voted; 261 votes are required to reject a presidential veto.

Donald Tusk Comments

Former Prime Minister Donald Tusk remarked during the proceedings that he had hoped PiS would take the opportunity to withdraw from this serious mistake. He described the situation as “the nastiest” Poland has seen since 1989. Tusk explained that the vetoed law was aimed at allowing authorities to monitor part of the cryptocurrency market infiltrated by Russian and Belarusian entities, noting that hundreds of such entities are registered in the Katowice tax office. He said the law will be resubmitted to the Sejm.
