Nearly 4,800 arrested in three nationwide operations
During a press conference on 22 November, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński reported that almost 4,800 individuals were captured during three country‑wide search operations carried out by police and border guard. The actions targeted suspects pursued by Polish justice and listed on international wanted lists, including Interpol notices. Among those detained were high‑risk criminals and members of Eastern Mafia.
Foreigners make up more than 400 of the detainees
Over 400 of the arrested persons are foreign nationals. Border Guard has already deported many of them or is in the process of expulsion, meaning they will soon leave Poland. The operation sends a clear message that the state will not tolerate criminal activity.
Polish State promised to catch every lawbreaker
Kierwiński warned that anyone who breaks Polish or European law must expect to be caught. He emphasized that the three operations would continue in coming months and that the parliament’s unanimous vote would provide a powerful modernization impulse, granting nearly 13 billion zloty for new technology, equipment and personnel gear.
Operation “Horizon” combats sabotage of critical infrastructure
Starting on 22 November, the military‑assisted operation “Horizon” protects key infrastructure and counters sabotage. It responds to the explosive sabotage of railway tracks near Garwolin and Mika station, an act attributed to Russia. The operation involves joint patrols of armed forces and police units to safeguard infrastructure.
