A man wielding a knife attacked another passenger on a Warsaw tram line 22 Monday evening, but was subdued by fellow riders.
Incident on Tram Line 22
A dangerous incident involving a knife occurred on tram line 22, traveling along Aleje Jerozolimskie towards Praga, around 6:00 PM on Monday, March 16th. Police report that the aggressive man was overpowered by passengers, and no injuries were sustained.
Escalating Dispute
The incident unfolded in central Warsaw during the tram’s journey. A quarrel between two men escalated into a violent altercation, during which a Polish citizen produced a knife and lunged at a Ukrainian citizen.
Police Investigation Underway
Sergeant Bartłomiej Śniadała of the Warsaw Police Headquarters stated that information regarding the exact sequence of events is currently limited, and witness testimonies will be crucial. He confirmed that witnesses successfully restrained the man with the knife.
Suspect Detained
Preliminary reports indicate that no one on the tram was harmed. The aggressor, a 27-year-old Polish citizen, has been taken into custody at the police station on Wilcza Street.
