A 14‑year‑old was stabbed in a Bydgoszcz shop’s changing room, and police are still determining the suspect’s motives while the victim’s condition is reported as stable.
Investigation Details
According to Radio Eska, there are suspicions that the victim may have known a 21‑year‑old. The motive of the detained person is under investigation; phone records will be analyzed among other evidence.
“We know the boy entered the store together with that man, but no more detailed information about their relationship exists,” said Agnieszka Adamska‑Okońska of the Bydgoszcz District Prosecutor’s Office.
Victim’s Medical Condition
The teenager suffered at least several stab wounds to the chest and in the neck and arm area. He was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery.
According to TVN24, his condition is stable. “Emergency services brought the boy in with numerous knife wounds. He was quickly equipped, diagnostic work was performed, and he was transferred to surgery on an urgent basis. His condition is currently stable,” a hospital representative told the station.
Police and Prosecutorial Response
On Thursday, 20 November, police carried out numerous actions at the scene to preserve traces and evidence, including collecting a knife and securing surveillance footage from the shopping mall. The footage is currently under analysis, and witnesses are being interviewed.
Investigators plan to analyze phone records belonging to both the victim and the suspect. Prosecutor Adamska‑Okońska said that the 21‑year‑old may face charges on Friday, depending on the analysis of the evidence. TVN24 reports that the case will be prosecuted as an attempt to murder.
