Incident Details

A train travelling from Doncaster to London’s King’s Cross was attacked near Cambridge in Cambridgeshire at 19:39 local time on 1 November. Police believe two assailants with knives caused the incident. At least ten people were injured, nine of them in life‑threatening condition, and no deaths were reported. More than 30 officers were dispatched, and anti‑terror units were involved. Two suspects were arrested.

Emergency Response

Emergency services received an alarm for “several people stabbed on a train.” Large forces, including many ambulances, tactical commanders, the BEAR (Border and Emergency Response) Team, Critical Care teams and an Air Ambulance, were mobilised to Huntingdon station. Injured passengers were transported to hospitals. A witness reported that one attacker wielding a large knife was subdued with a taser. Panic erupted on the train, with passengers trampling each other and hiding in toilets.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the incident as “deeply concerning” and thanked emergency services for their swift response. He said his thoughts were with “all those affected” and urged residents in the area to follow police instructions.
