Warsaw police have arrested a 33-year-old man for attempted murder after he allegedly burst into a Bemowo apartment wearing a balaclava and stabbed a victim multiple times.
The Assault and Escape
Police in Warsaw’s Wola and Bemowo districts were alerted to a home invasion where an assailant in a balaclava attacked a victim with a knife. After a struggle inside the apartment, the victim fled to the street, where the attacker pursued him and inflicted multiple stab and slash wounds.
The perpetrator fled the scene immediately following the attack. Emergency services arrived shortly after the incident, provided medical aid, and transported the victim to a hospital.
Investigation and Manhunt
The District Police Commander for Warsaw IV declared an urgent alert, mobilizing operational and criminal investigation units from Wola and Bemowo. Forensic technicians processed the crime scene and secured evidence while investigators analyzed the suspect’s escape route.
Intensive investigative efforts led authorities to the Minsk County in the Masovian Voivodeship. Officers located the suspect hiding in a summer house and successfully took him into custody.
Charges and Legal Consequences
The 33-year-old suspect, who has a prior criminal record for drug possession, driving under the influence, and document forgery, was transferred to the Warsaw-Wola District Prosecutor’s Office. He has been formally charged with attempted murder.
At the request of the prosecutor, the court ordered the suspect to be held in temporary detention for three months. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 10 years in prison or a life sentence.
