KO MP Mocks Paulina Matysiak During Sejm Session

During a parliamentary session on May 15, KO MP Niedźwiedzki mocked MP Paulina Matysiak, prompting her to publish video footage of the incident and remark that the Sejm had been mistaken for a kindergarten.

Reactions to the Parliamentary Incident

In response to the viral video, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated that Niedźwiedzki’s behavior suggests his political career should come to an end. MP Rafał Komarewicz criticized the incident as a display of vulgarity rather than humor.

Komarewicz further remarked that the behavior is particularly unacceptable coming from those who build their public image on the defense of women’s rights and mutual respect, questioning if their stated standards are merely superficial.

The Context of Matysiak’s Parliamentary Work

Paulina Matysiak has been actively involved in investigating malfunctions involving Newag’s Impuls trains, which occurred in 2022. She brought the issue to the Sejm, citing claims from Dragon Sector hackers that the company may have intentionally caused technical defects to secure service contracts, allegations which the company has denied.

Newag subsequently filed a request to waive Matysiak’s parliamentary immunity to pursue a defamation lawsuit. While the Sejm’s Committee on Rules and Deputies’ Affairs was scheduled to discuss the motion on May 14, the meeting was canceled, with reports suggesting it will be rescheduled for a future date.
