A recent Super Express poll surveyed readers on whether Law and Justice (PiS) can defeat the Civic Coalition (KO) in the next parliamentary elections, revealing that a decisive 66.82% believe PiS will lose.
Readers Do Not See a Path to Victory for PiS
A few days ago, we described the latest poll by the Pollster Research Institute for “SuperExpress”, in which the Civic Coalition (KO) maintains the lead, while Law and Justice (PiS) remains the second political force. The text also included information on changes in the ratings of other groups and tensions within PiS. In a sub-material, we asked readers how they assess PiS’s chances against KO in the next parliamentary elections.
One answer clearly dominates the voting. The “No” option was selected by 66.82% of the people participating in the poll, meaning 2,254 people (result as of March 9, 2026). Second place went to the “Yes” answer, which was chosen by 27.60% of voters, translating to 931 people. The difference between these answers is over 39 percentage points.
The poll also included an option for those who do not have a clear opinion. The “Hard to say” option was chosen by 5.57% of voters, or 188 people. A total of 3,373 votes were cast in the poll, showing the distribution of readers’ indications under the article regarding the current ratings of political parties.
Civic Coalition: The Main Rival
The Civic Coalition is PiS’s main rival on the political scene. The grouping is at the head of the current government coalition. The Civic Coalition is a political grouping of a centrist and social-liberal nature, established in 2018 as an electoral coalition of several parties. In 2025, it was transformed into a single political party by merging the structures of Civic Platform, Modern, and Polish Initiative.
Since the 2023 parliamentary elections, the Civic Coalition has been one of the pillars of the government formed together with the Third Way and the Left. The leader of Civic Platform, Donald Tusk, became the Prime Minister, and politicians associated with KO also took many ministerial positions. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, the grouping obtained 30.7% of the votes in the Sejm elections. The Civic Coalition won 157 seats in the Sejm and 41 seats in the Senate, which was the highest result in the upper house of parliament. Thanks to this, KO became one of the most important participants in the talks on the creation of a new government majority.
Law and Justice: A Two-Decade Political Force
Law and Justice has been operating on the political scene for over two decades. The grouping remains one of the largest parliamentary clubs in the Sejm. Law and Justice was founded on May 29, 2001, by Lech and Jarosław Kaczyński. Currently, the grouping has 188 MPs in the Sejm and 34 senators, and the function of the party president is still held by Jarosław Kaczyński.
The party defines its ideology as right-wing, combining social conservatism with elements of solidarity and economic interventionism. In its history, the grouping has twice come to power in Poland. First, it ruled in 2005-2007, and then in 2015-2023, when a new parliamentary majority took power. During the second term, the office of prime minister was held by Beata Szydło and Mateusz Morawiecki, and PiS co-created a coalition referred to as the United Right.
