Konfederacja Places Banner at PiS Protest – Mentzen Demands End to Hypocrisy

On Saturday, a banner from Poland’s Konfederacja was displayed at a PiS anti‑migration protest in Warsaw’s Castle Square, prompting a scathing message from the party’s spokesman.

Banner Accuses PiS of Issuing 366,000 Visas

During the Saturday demonstration in Warsaw’s Castle Square, a large banner by Konfederacja read that the PiS government had issued 366,000 visas to migrants from Africa and Asia. The figure is cited in a 2023 report of the Supreme Audit Office covering 2018‑2023, stating that the visas were granted to citizens of 76 Muslim and African countries.

Mentzen Criticises PiS Anti‑Migration Rhetoric

Sławomir Mentzen, a leading figure in Konfederacja, posted on X that the party had joined the PiS anti‑migration march to point out the movement’s lack of credibility. “PiS’s anti‑migration stance is as credible as Tusk bragging about the border fence with Belarus,” he wrote, comparing the two politicians’ flimsy claims.

Mentzen Warns of Hypocrisy and Vows to Keep PiS in Check

In a subsequent tweet, Mentzen pledged that Konfederacja would remind PiS that “no migrant influx matches what you have brought.” He added that the same principle would hold PiS accountable for the Green Deal, national debt, and complex taxes, declaring it time to stop “the hypocrisy and deception” he accused the government of.

Tusk Calls PiS March a Fiasco

Donald Tusk responded to the protest, calling Kaczyński’s “great march” a fiasco and claiming that it would have been better to remove migrants rather than demonstrators. He reiterated that Poland would not relocate migrants, that the Belarusian border would be tightened, and that stricter visa and asylum rules would make Poland a model for others.
