A 59-year-old man, under police guard at a Krakow hospital, escaped custody around 9 a.m., prompting a police operation.
Krakow: Escapee Flees Hospital
Police are investigating the circumstances of the escape, according to Kom. Piotr Szpiech of the Krakow City Police Headquarters.
The 59-year-old man departed from the Military Hospital on Wrocław Street at approximately 9:00 a.m.
Under Guard Since Friday
Police had been guarding the man at the hospital since Friday, after receiving information that he was wanted by two police units from the Silesian Voivodeship.
He was due to serve a 7-year sentence for crimes including burglary, forgery, and failure to pay alimony.
Not Considered a Threat
Kom. Piotr Szpiech stated that the man’s criminal record does not indicate a threat to the life or health of others.
Search operations are currently underway.
