Following the closure of polling stations at 9:00 PM, an exit poll conducted for Polsat News indicates majority support for Miszalski’s recall, though the referendum’s validity hinges entirely on voter turnout.
Exit Poll Results and Validity Thresholds
The Ogólnopolska Grupa Badawcza surveyed voters leaving 55 polling stations to determine public sentiment regarding the recall of Miszalski. While early data suggests a majority favor the recall, the final outcome remains subject to the official verification of the 27 percent turnout threshold.
TVN24 reports an estimated preliminary turnout of 33.4 percent. The Krakow branch of the National Electoral Office expects to release the official final results on the morning of Monday, May 25.
Voting Infrastructure and Requirements
Sunday’s vote took place across 453 polling stations, including 412 permanent districts and 41 special units located in medical facilities, care homes, and prisons. A minimum of 158,555 voters was required to validate the referendum, a figure calculated based on turnout from the city’s second-round mayoral election.
With 585,228 citizens registered to vote as of late March, the electoral process necessitated high participation levels to meet the statutory requirements for the city council and municipal governance decisions.
Eligibility and Registration Protocols
Only residents with active voting rights and permanent residency in Krakow were eligible to participate. Votes were cast at the polling station corresponding to the address registered in the Central Voter Register.
The system primarily relies on the permanent residence registration address. Individuals who previously submitted formal requests to be included in a different voting district remain registered at that specific location until submitting a formal declaration of return to their permanent residence.
