Following Sunday’s referendum in Kraków, late poll results indicate a turnout of 31.8 percent, with a significant majority of participants voting in favor of dismissing the city’s president and council.
Late Poll Findings
Late poll results released after 11:00 PM show minimal variance from the 9:00 PM data. The OGB survey conducted for Polsat News and Stan360 confirms a 31.8 percent turnout, revising the initial exit poll estimate of 33.4 percent.
Of the participating voters, 97.8 percent supported the dismissal of Mayor Aleksander Miszalski, while 96 percent voted to remove the Kraków City Council. These results carry a margin of error of approximately two percentage points.
Referendum Validity and Next Steps
The validity of the referendum hinges primarily on voter turnout. For the result to be binding, at least 3/5 of the number of voters who participated in the second round of the mayoral election—a minimum of 158,555 residents—had to cast their ballots.
The Kraków branch of the National Electoral Office expects to release the official final results on Monday, May 25, during morning hours.
Voting Logistics
Sunday’s voting process took place across 453 polling stations, which opened at 7:00 AM. The majority of these, totaling 412, were permanent polling stations, while 41 were established in specialized locations such as medical facilities, social care homes, and penal institutions.
Eligibility was restricted to individuals with active voting rights and permanent residence in Kraków. Voting took place according to the address recorded in the Central Voter Register, primarily based on permanent registration or previously approved residency updates.
