Kremlin Voices Lead Ahead of Alaska Summit – Fresh Details

Kremlin officials relay new details before Friday’s Alaska summit, joined by President Putin and former President Trump.

Details of the Putin‑Trump Meeting

Kremlin adviser Yuriy Uszakov confirmed that Donald Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin will begin on Friday, August 15 at 9:30 p.m. Central European Time. It will be held at the U.S. military base in Anchorage, Alaska, where Russia and the United States have finalized the summit programme. Uszakov told reporters that the leaders will first aim to agree on terms for a cease‑fire in Ukraine, before discussing the resumption of bilateral contacts. He also conveyed that the leaders would hold a joint press conference after the talks. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed the same information.

Trump said he was not yet certain the press conference would be “joint”. The Kremlin adviser also noted that no time limit had been set for the meeting and that the delegation would return to Russia immediately after the talks.

Putin and Trump Comment

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that no documents would be signed following the summit. Putin stated that the U.S. administration was pressing for an end to the conflict in Ukraine. Trump, however, said his meeting with Putin carried only a 25 % chance of success and described the summit as a prelude to future trilateral talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, aimed at finalising peace in Ukraine.

The U.S. President hinted that only during a subsequent meeting might a joint agreement on borders and territories be reached. He also signalled readiness to impose additional sanctions on Russia if the Friday meeting fails.

Gen. Polko: I Expect Nothing Good After This Meeting

General Roman Polko warned that previous meetings between the leaders had produced no concrete outcomes regarding Ukraine. “These are not negotiations, they’re compromises involving Trump and Steve Wiktorff,” he said, adding that Trump “does not understand” the Ukraine situation. Polko criticized Trump’s perceived lack of genuine concern for Ukraine and warned that Russia had not taken any steps to end the war. He concluded that all these manoeuvres were part of Putin’s games, revealing that American diplomacy fails to grasp or pretends not to understand Russia.
