Krzysztof M., associated with New Left, has been detained by the CBA on suspicion of corruption, prompting immediate reaction from party leader Czarzasty.

Associated with New Left (previously Democratic Left Alliance), Krzysztof M. was detained in connection with suspected corruption. The information was conveyed on X by spokesperson for the coordinator of special services, Jacek Dobrzyński.
The detention of Krzysztof M. occurred before 9:00 AM near the politician’s residence in Częstochowa. It was carried out on the order of the Prosecutor of the Śląski Division of the National Prosecutor’s Office. Searches and document seizures are currently being conducted at several locations in the city.
Political Response
The authorities of New Left have decided to suspend Krzysztof M. from his party membership. On Wednesday, party chairman Włodzimierz Czarzasty immediately suspended the president of Częstochowa pending clarification of the case, according to party spokesperson Łukasz Michnik.
When asked about the matter, New Left vice-chairman Tomasz Trela stated in the Sejm on Wednesday: “We are waiting for more information because these are only media reports. I have known the president for a long time. He was a parliamentarian, he was in local government for a long time, so I hope the matter will be clarified very quickly.”
Background
Krzysztof M. was elected president of Częstochowa in November 2010. Previously, he was a member of parliament, a councilor in Częstochowa, and a deputy head of the County Starosty’s Office. The politician is a graduate of Częstochowa University of Technology with a Master of Engineering in Construction. He also completed postgraduate studies in economics and managerial management, as well as executive MBA studies at the Higher School of Business.
