Kwaśniewski Dominates Polish Presidential Approval Poll

A recent poll assessing the performance of Polish presidents reveals Aleksander Kwaśniewski as the clear frontrunner, garnering 82.74% of votes.

Poll Results Highlight Kwaśniewski’s Lead

A survey conducted following coverage of the swearing-in photos of Constitutional Tribunal judges from 2019 showed a significant difference in approval ratings among Polish presidents.

Aleksander Kwaśniewski received the highest number of votes, totaling 82.74% with 6,861 responses as of March 30, 2026. This is the only result exceeding 80%, while other presidents received single-digit percentages.

Other Presidential Approval Ratings

Lech Wałęsa received 5.67% of the votes, followed by Bronisław Komorowski with 3.41% and Karol Nawrocki with 2.94%. Lech Kaczyński obtained 1.76%, and Andrzej Duda received 0.47%.

3% of respondents indicated they had no opinion. A total of 6,861 votes were cast.

Kwaśniewski’s Presidential Tenure

Aleksander Kwaśniewski served two terms as president, from 1995 to 2005.

Kwaśniewski’s Background and Career

Born on November 15, 1954, in Białogard, Aleksander Kwaśniewski was President of Poland from December 23, 1995, to December 23, 2005. Prior to his presidency, he held governmental and parliamentary positions, serving as a minister in the 1980s and a member of the Sejm in the 1990s.

He was also involved in party and public activities and led the Polish Olympic Committee. He participated in international politics, collaborating with leaders of European countries and the United States, focusing on strengthening Poland’s position within Western structures and key decisions regarding security and European integration.

Succession of Presidents

Following the end of Kwaśniewski’s term, Lech Kaczyński served as president from 2005 to 2010, followed by Bronisław Komorowski from 2010 to 2015, and Andrzej Duda, who held office for two terms from August 6, 2015, to August 6, 2025.

Karol Nawrocki assumed the office of President of the Republic of Poland on August 6, 2025.
