Kyiv Under Fire: Russian Strikes Hit Seven City Districts

At least four people were killed and 53 injured in a massive overnight Russian assault on Kyiv and its surrounding region, causing widespread damage to residential and public infrastructure.

Casualties and Scale of the Attack

Local authorities report that at least four people have died and 53 were injured following a massive overnight Russian attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Residential buildings were damaged across seven of the city’s ten districts.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the rising toll via Telegram, noting 44 injuries in the capital alone. Of these, 28 people were hospitalized, including two children in moderate condition, while three victims remain in critical condition.

Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv regional military administration, stated that two civilians were killed and nine others wounded in the regional attacks.

Damage to Infrastructure

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported strikes and fires in residential buildings, a dormitory, a school, a business center, a shopping mall, and a supermarket. Emergency services are currently clearing the debris.

Ihor Smiliansky, director of Ukrposhta, confirmed that the main headquarters of the Ukrainian postal service near Independence Square was damaged. Other affected sites include the Lukianivska metro station entrance, a McDonald’s location, and the National Museum of the Chornobyl Disaster.

Air Defenses and Border Security

Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv at 12:33 AM, lasting until 4:51 AM as Russian forces executed multiple waves of strikes. During the assault, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces preemptively scrambled military aircraft.

After more than three hours of operational activity, the command confirmed that the mission concluded without any violation of Polish airspace by the attacking forces.
