Large Grass and Forest Fires in Wyszków County

Firefighters battle two major blazes in Wyszków county, with over 20 units deployed to control the spread.

Natalin Fire

In Natalin, approximately 10 hectares of meadows and forests have been engulfed by fire. About 10 fire brigade units are on site, and the situation is now under control. Efforts are focused on extinguishing and damping down the smoldering remains.

Podgaci Fire

The situation in Podgaci is more critical, with the fire spreading to over 20 hectares of grasslands and forests. Strong winds are fueling the blaze, leading to dense smoke in the area. Over 21 fire brigade units, including a “Las” firefighting platoon from Wołomin and Węgrów counties, are involved, with approximately 80 firefighters engaged. The fire is not yet contained.

Fire Safety Reminder

The Wyszków County Fire Service, as part of its “Stop Grass Fires” campaign launched on March 9, reminds the public that burning grass and wastelands is illegal and poses a threat to people, animals, forests, and buildings. Lasy Państwowe also highlight the heightened risk during the transition from winter to spring due to dry undergrowth, lack of rainfall, and the ease of fire spread.

Ongoing Actions

Fire services continue their operations, and the extent of damage may change as the situation develops. In Natalin, efforts are concentrated on extinguishing the remaining embers, while in Podgaci, the priority is to prevent further spread of the fire.
