First Fire in Karczew

A fire of wastelands occurred near John Paul II Street in Karczew in Otwock County. The fire covered dry grass, bushes, and trees on an area of about 2,000 square meters.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a developed wasteland fire. Flames covered dry vegetation, and the fire burned several meters high. Smoke was visible from a distance.

The situation was quickly brought under control. Firefighters conducted extinguishing operations using two water streams and foam. No one was injured in the incident.

Second Fire in Glinki

This was not the end of interventions in the region. Just an hour later, firefighters were again dispatched to a wasteland fire – this time in the village of Glinki. Three fire brigades participated in this operation.

Grass Fire Prevention Campaign

The State Fire Service for years reminds that the largest number of grass fires occurs in March and April. The Main Command of the PSP conducts the ‘Stop Grass Fires’ campaign, emphasizing that burning grass is illegal and poses a threat to people, animals, and buildings. From January 2, 2026, stricter penalties will also apply for setting fire and other behaviors creating fire hazards.
