Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zełenski is scheduled to arrive in Warsaw on Friday, 19 December, to meet Poland’s Foreign Minister Karol Nawrocki after a new invitation letter was reportedly sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Invitation Sent to the MFA
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zełenski will arrive in Warsaw on Friday, 19 December, to meet Poland’s FM Karol Nawrocki. TVN24 reported that a letter from the Presidential Chancellery had been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Journalist Konrad Piasecki said the invitation had “just arrived” at the MFA.
Vice‑Foreign Minister on Delegation
Earlier that day, TVN24’s Vice‑Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki stated that “no government representative is invited to the president’s delegation.” He said this was absolutely unconstitutional, noting that the constitution requires the president to cooperate with government in international matters. He clarified that a face‑to‑face meeting should involve only the leaders, possibly with translators if needed, but delegations must always include a government representative—specifically the MFA.
Possible Tusk‑Zełenski Meeting
During a Wednesday press conference, spokesman Adam Szłapka was asked whether the Ukrainian leader would also meet Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Szłapka replied that the visit follows the autumn European Council meeting in Brussels concerning Ukraine’s future and European security. He added that if the Council meeting concludes promptly, the meeting with Tusk on Friday in Poland is likely, emphasizing that the president is keen to meet Tusk again.
