Influencer Łatwogang successfully raised the final 12 million złoty required for Maks’s treatment on Sunday, as crowds gathered to support his cross-country charity bicycle ride from Zakopane to Gdańsk.
Reaching the 12 Million Goal
The 12 million złoty target was hit around 9:00 AM on Sunday while the influencer was at a gas station in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Expressing his gratitude, he remarked that it was a beautiful day and a collective achievement.
Before hitting the mark, Łatwogang noted he still had about 177 kilometers to go and announced plans to immediately begin a new fundraiser for another child suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
Community Solidarity and Support
The journey is built on solidarity, with the influencer encouraging his audience to watch the stream as a form of support. The decision to undertake the trip followed his previous charity success, with Maks’s specific story serving as a primary inspiration.
The total cost of therapy for Maks is approximately 15 million złoty. By the time the ride began, over 400,000 złoty had already been collected toward the goal.
A Phenomenon in Social Media
The fundraiser has drawn massive crowds along the route, with local residents, including orchestras and fellow cyclists, showing their support. This follows a previous campaign where the influencer raised over 251 million złoty for the Cancer Fighters foundation.
Social psychologist Prof. Zbigniew Nęcki describes the influencer’s impact as a unique phenomenon. He attributes this success to the creator’s communication skills, the emotional nature of the cause, and his perceived sincerity in prioritizing humanitarian aid over personal gain.
