Influencer Piotr Hancke, known as Łatwogang, will begin a cross-country cycling journey this Friday at 4:00 PM to raise 12 million PLN for an eight-year-old boy suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
The Urgent Race Against Time
The cost of the necessary treatment in the USA is approximately 15 million PLN, with over 3 million PLN raised since October 2025. If the target is met, Hancke has pledged to cycle back to Zakopane after a short rest.
Organizers emphasize that time is critical, as the gene therapy is only effective for children in relatively good physical condition. Any surplus funds will be donated to help other children in need.
Understanding Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration. Most patients lose the ability to walk independently by the age of 12 as the disease gradually affects further muscle groups.
While the new US-based gene therapy can halt the progression of the disease, it remains one of the most expensive treatments in the world.
Past Fundraising Successes
In April, Łatwogang hosted a nine-day online stream for the Cancer Fighters foundation, which peaked at over 1.5 million simultaneous viewers. The event featured concerts, auctions, and challenges, raising over 257.5 million PLN.
The initiative was inspired by the song “Ciągle tutaj jestem (diss na raka),” recorded by rapper Bedoes 2115 and foundation beneficiary Maja Mecan, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting cancer patients.
