Left Turn Against Forbidden Sign Causes Collision, Two Injured

On October 16 at about 4 p.m., a Honda collided with a Volvo at the intersection of Powstańców Śląskich, Połczyńska and Dźwigowa streets in Warsaw, injuring two people and snarling rush‑hour traffic.

Collision Overview

At roughly 16:00 on Friday, a Honda and a Volvo collided at the junction of Powstańców Śląskich, Połczyńska, and Dźwigowa streets. Two individuals were transported to hospital, and traffic through the intersection during peak hours was severely hindered.

Driving Routes and Violated Sign

Investigations show the Volvo driver was on Połczyńska coming from Lazurowa, while the Honda driver was traveling the same street from the city centre toward Ożarów Mazowiecki. At the junction the Volvo turned left against a prohibition sign, striking the Honda proceeding straight, then hitting a pillar and a streetlight.

Emergency Response

Two fire‑brigade crews, two medical rescue teams, and police units were dispatched. The Honda driver was taken to hospital after a preliminary examination; once the Volvo driver learned he was responsible, he fell ill and was also admitted to a medical facility.

Traffic Disruption

Police, including accident‑investigation officers, worked at the site for an extended period, conducting procedural activities, securing the area, and directing traffic. Consequently, movement through the intersection during the afternoon rush hour was significantly restricted.

Pattern of Incidents at the Intersection

Today marks the second collision at this junction, both involving a left turn against a prohibition sign from Połczyńska onto Powstańców Śląskich. The earlier event occurred in the morning; yesterday’s footage captured a similar afternoon accident involving a motorcycle and a car.
